Just go a signwriter and get some vinyl, or put a few layers of window tint on there.
Will look dark, but still allow a small amount of light through.

I took the vinyl tint approach for mine - about $10 off ebay, cut to size myself.

Since it's stuck directly onto the light, it doesn't stick out the way the Japanese light covers do, however it's a bit more subtle - from some angles reflections off the vinyl hide the angry eyes effect. They still allow light through when the headlights are on, so it's less obvious at night as well/doesn't obscure vision (possibly makes it easier on the eyes of oncoming traffic too, since it softens the top of the beam):





Also found a custom bodykit at the wreckers :
