Not sure if this has been spoken about before, but what are the pros and cons of using fuel stabilizer when the car is being stored for an extended length of time. I have been watching GASOLINE and the host Glen EVERETT seem to swear by the fuel additive STABIL! fuel stabilizer for his accasionally used toys, so any ideas on using this stuff.

It works fine in boats, should work for cars too then. But nope I've not tried it (my boat got used too often to bother).

I would definately recommend a fuel stabiliser if your going to store your car for a while the fuel goes stale and can turn to a gum. I would recommend storing it with a full tank of fuel which will stop condensation causing rust in your fuel tank. And adding a stabiliser and for 10 mins to make sure it circulates through your carbies. When you come to use your car again drain all the fuel and refill with new stuff.

As with ski boats when you park them up for the Winter , I was always told to fill the fuel tank and drop a bottle of metho in it to keep the condensation at bay .

Not sure with the fuel that we use nowdays , it goes off fairly quick .

so what your saying is you can use the fuel stabilizer for an extended period of time with a full tank of fuel, and when you want to use the car again, you have to dump all the fuel and replace it, why cant you just use the fuel that is already in the tank, my car has SPI, that may be a slight priblem with gum and gunk???
