Post subject: | Head Gasket at Studs |
Hi all. So remind me.. BK450 head gaskets. Do they need anything specific applied to them before installation? Also some of my head studs look pristine but others not so much. I'd like to get a new set so whats the most cost effective? Minispares are about $100 landed and it appears to go up from there. Anyone got another suggestion? I am at work today so would like to do the job next weekend if I can get the studs. Thanks |

I thought ARP were the only choice in aftermarket engine fasteners. The Mini Spares ones you're looking at MIGHT be better then the factory ones you have, but I'd say the ARP ones WILL be better! Unsure of suppliers, but they shouldn't be hard to get. Matt |

From UK I doubt it would be here by Friday, next Friday maybe. If you pay for Express it won't be $100 I'm sure... Try minisplus, it'll be here by Tuesday if you order tomorrow Standard studs without S 11th: http://www.minis.com.au/minis/catalog/p ... cts_id=267 ARP: http://www.minis.com.au/minis/catalog/p ... cts_id=721 |

PM sent re the studs. re the BK450 gasket, they are coated with sticky lacquer and should not need any sealant. |

Matt The ARP ones from a big supplier in OZ are $220 for a 9 bolt set and $240 for an 11 bolt set including 12 point nuts etc. I'll look for a cheaper source but the Minispares comp ones may be the go. They will be a whole lot cheaper. Wont go near the standard ones. Thanks team Ausmini. |

Cheaper ARP prices here- http://www.vpw.com.au/Category/Index/408744 (I wonder why the Triumph Sh!tfire studs are 1/2 the price of BMC ones??:?) I have used the Minispares stud kit, they are OK but ARP are better. |

Following docs comment about lower costing SPitfire stud kits, why is the shaved head a series kit half price? is it just high tensile washers????? |

Studs are slightly shorter overall I think. Otherwise same as the stock set. The racers on here (GR?) would know for sure. They are so cheap it might be to move stock, I have seen them regular price in other places. |
