Post subject:  What Clutch works best?

Greetings All.

Just curious. Is there any difference between the diaphram type clutch's, compared to the 6 X Spring type?
Feel of the pedal, pressure to push it etc etc...?

Yes there is.
I have had both sorts (early 850 & 997 Cooper with coil springs back in the 60s) and 1275S and orange dot diaphragm (rally) ones.
Diaphragm clutches grip better, are lighter to push (if spring height set right) and have no coil springs which deform with centrifugal force.
And I bet new springs for early clutches are NLA now.

The best part about the coil spring clutch was the original flat faced 3W5/8 release bearing, almost extinct, which we are all trying to buy now for our diaphragm clutches.

Thanks Doc.

I've learnt something today.

Cheers
