I have began on my delux stripping it all and sanding rust etc i have only ever had later model minis and behind the lights etc the wires just cliped apart but on this early model mini every wire is connected unable to come apart do i have to cut them or it there a way. I am going to put a new wiring loom in for sure anyways 2. i have taken windscreen and rear screen out doors are off but the back windows are still in is there an easy way to get them off thanks for any info |

I am going to put a new wiring loom in for sure anyways 2. i have taken windscreen and rear screen out doors are off but the back windows are still in is there an easy way to get them off thanks for any info Marc...they are easy to remove...first undo the two screws holding the chrome over centre latches to the body, inside the car, near the rear window. then underneath the window rubber at the front are a 8 or so small screws holding the front hinge of the window.....when you start removinging these screws you need to hold the weight of the window. |

mike yeah your right mate i know pretty simple questions but just wondered if cutting and then soldering or connecting them back together was the only way. but as i said im up for a new harness anyway so it doesnt matter i quess |

Those wires on a Deluxe should just clip on/off, unless someone has soldered them! 
If that's what it has I'd redo them with spade terminals.

as far as the wiring harness goes is there any reason that i cant put a late model harness in and use this (this is my plan) then recconect it all. |

For the wiring harness check out a clasic car wiring place in coffs harbour....can't remember the name. They do the mini harness to original specs inc colours and a numbered diagram for around 300 bux. Takes around 3 days to post |

I could never understand why people insist on having a separable connection there instead of a solid link. The area is exposed to so much crap while driving - most connectors will deteriorate over time. And how often does anyone have to separate those wires? I mean in the extreme cases where youre removing the whole harness, you can just as well cut them and resolder + heat shrink later, But for an easy connection - Narva and Hella both do multi spade connectors which are ok (well Hella is, Narva's ones are addequate at best). Or get those boating solder + shrink connection the Doc has been mentioning forever (but still hasn't fitted afaik  ).
