Everyone has different ideas but I would say go with the original colour.

I think keep the 850 original and the other is fair game.

Plenty of "originals" still around...

Freshen up the paint with the original colour....

Make it go, stop and handle to suit your purposes...

Enjoy :D

[PS keep all the original bits...just in case]

I always agonise over paint, right up until the moment you see it freshly laid onto the car out of the gun. Its only then that you can see why people bought these colours in the first place.

Whatever it is, you will love it straight up, even if it isn't your first choice in colour.

What is the original colour?

Given it is on the body plate, I would keep it that colour!

With a good straight car, original is best (as long as it's not a really bad colour).
And if you are going to drive it regularly, update it with brakes, power and electrics, ect.
As 9YaTah said, keep all the original bits and IMO even if they are worn out (gives the new buyer a clear picture of what the car was).
Make sure everything you do is reversible. Can only add value to the vehicle.

One good thing is the really bad colours usually end up being the rarest and most sought after. Everyone hated tamarisk green, plum loco and fiesta yellow back in the day and now they are sought after!

Frankly i'm not in a good position to give advice but i think some one mentioned it as well, keep it mostly original on the outside. Chances are unless you plan to sell it in the next few years, it'll probably be a purist who is looking to buy. By 2030 the mini scene will be much smaller and the people buying them will mostly want one for originality. All the same, small things like some lovely little period 10 inch wheels, maybe a small power increase too. I think subtle changes that are easy to do and just as easily undone can be ideal.

Love pulling up a old topic, select last page on Mini Chat

And well its always a popular topic

My vote has always been keep it original, little story on restoring our Morris Mini Minor found in original colour, faded but original, I wanted red with white roof but we got out some cutting compound and buffed the original paint on roof wow wow wow, what a refreshing colour of blue

We went with blue, if we hadn't we would not have known its rare history,

Since then I have been stern on original paint, you don't know what history your covering up

Glad to have found this old topic

Now for someone else to pull up a blast from the past
