I would paint it in Chalkboard paint. Then you can draw all over it and change it from day to day. I guess it would be fairly hard wearing teachers use them day in day out, and, it Matte.

Cheers

the new ones are green
if you're old enough you'd remember back in the good old days when teachers didn't mind getting their hands dirty with simple white chalk and could exploit children to choke in the dusting of dusters on the picket school fences, they were black

Some people out there (not me by a long shot) probable don't even remember class rooms haveing black boards or chalk.
Love the smell of white boads in the morning!!!

Some schools still have blackboards. They are far easier to write on than white because chalk offers more resistance. The best setup is combo black & white, you can swap depending on your mood and the kids behaviour.

Normally I get online to talk minis, but blackboards are definetely more interesting! "Lets make this the biggest thread ever" Ok going a bit beserk now

do you remember when you got a freshly painted blackboard
you had to cover it in white chalk first (by laying the chalk length ways)
to 'break' it in

boys we havent sorted out my issues yet

do you think a 2pak primer
(and cheap cheap fade prone matting prone black paint on top)
will be sufficient for rust prevention

the matte-ness will absorb water, but will the 2pak primer?

No, 2 pak primer is not porous. It's great stuff- you can put either 2 pak colour or acrylic on top of it.
