Can anyone explain to me in detail how the 2 speed wiper is connected coz I've got a new motor which works fine but wouldnt park. The car's an MK2 and negative ground. Now my old single speed was connected by the previous owner to constant positive at the motor and two ground at the switch - this is instead of running the positive through the switch as in the wiring diagram. I actualy preffer to only run ground to switches (less chance of a short) so I wanted to again run constant positive to the motor only. I'm assuming that the motor would need constant positive, two ground connections for each speed from run the switch and a constant ground connection for the park function. But whichever way I connect it I still fail to make it park. I even tried to run it the other way around with constant ground to the motor - it works but still wouldnt park. Assuming that you're standing on the passengers side infront of the car and the firewall is ahead of you and the left wing to your right how are the wires connected and how are they connected a the switch (for a 2 speed motor)? I'm pretty sure its not the gears, from observation i think the park is achieved by the metal path on the back of the big plastic wheel - and it seems to be alright. |

Finaly had it sussed, there is one tab on the wiper motor connection which is set to ground everywhere but at the park position, you run it to the switch, together with the permanent ground switch, thus the motor would keep feeding itself ground even when the switch (and hence the connection to permanent ground) is switched off, till it reaches the park position. BUT, it parks on the wrong (right) side - could this be because I wired the ground to the switch, instead of positive? Also, the shafts spin perfectly without the wiper arms on them but as soon as the arms go on, the shafts just keep clicking through and wouldn't move, there seems to be sufficient forrce in them to move the arms and it cant be the resistance of the glass coz they wouldnt move even when pulled away from glass. Any Ideas? |
