Try looking for LED E10 bulbs.... I bought a whole stack off eBay direct from China for a pittance and only had 3 duds in lots of bulbs. (I've heard don't replace your alternator warning light bulb with LED - it needs the resistance of a normal bulb to work properly - but may want to confirm that ) I think I bought something like this in various colours (red, clear etc): http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/10pcs-White-E10-12V-Led-Tower-Flood-Light-for-LIONEL-WL-ay-/140906654405?pt=AU_B_I_Electrical_Test_Equipment&hash=item20ceb0eac5 Have "bench tested" but not yet finished the car yet.... |

yep leyland onwards are T10 wedge & morris is an E10 Edison ebay is the best place can pick them up for about $1 a bulb |

My Smiths gauges have bulbs with bayonet type fittings, not screw in. Are there any swap in LEDs available for these? |

your number plate lights are also ba9s... well in my van they are but could be different in sedans |

nope, led's use less power than a standard bulb, only thing that need to change (maybe) would be the flasher unit if you put them in your indicators as they may flash faster |

A suitable Narva flasher is available at about $30 each. Don't do a load resistor setup as the LED flasher unit setup will allow you to drop the load right off in your wiring but the load resistor wont. And the load resistor is fiddly as you have to get the balance right to get it not to overheat. the ones I saw had resistors with huge wattage capacities to deal with the heat generated if the balance isn't correct. I am sure Tony B. can correct any errors in the above but broadly speaking I believe it is correct. |

You are correct, to simulate the indicators to the flasher can, you would need to simulate the load. 4x5 watt bulbs make for a 20 watt resistor load. Even if it is only on 50 % of the time, a ten watt resistor is quite large requiring a bulky heatsink. it will cost close to 30 bucks anyway, so much smarter to get the low load flasher can. |
