Hi All

Just been trying to book my 65 mini in for its annual inspection and have been told by several garages they cant inspect it as its too old !

Its its first one since I have had so I dont have a regular guy i can take it to.

Its there any law in NSW that states that any garage authorised for RTA inspections has to inspect any car? Iam now at a loss where to take it as no one I call wants to touch it.

thanks

Try a blue slip place that also does pink slips?

Nothing there says any old cars in NSW have a use-by date...

Thats really weird , perhaps look for an older mechanic ........ the ones your going to may not be familiar with older technology ... go visit your local mini club they will probably be able to put you onto someone

Cheers Bill

Any garage with an RTA/RMS shingle out the front should be able to give you a `pink slip'. If not, I'd report them to RMS.

I've used Cromer motors in Cromer to do some work on my old non-mini and pretty sure they do pink slips (in fact certain of it). You could try there. It is an old garage on the corner of two streets. I have their phone number (9982 7317) but not their address but nothing Google couldn't fix.

That's bizarre. The checks they do are so basic they can be applied to any motor car. Even a model T ford or earlier.

Where abouts on the Northern Beaches are you? If your near Mona Vale theres a place that will do it no questions asked. PM if you want details.

friend of ours wife took their 65 mini in to Vic roads to register,
was told by bimbo on counter
"you should not be registering this it is to old and environmentally damaging to be on the road"
was politely told "none of your business ! but out and do your job" some people

it is getting harder to get them done with the new rules and costs and some garages can't be bothered
"it is too hard there is no where to plug in the computer "

D & M Automotive in Brookvale do my pink slip for my Historic rego no problem. See Darren as he is into nice classic cars and is a good bloke to boot!
