I just noticed this the other day.Image

I thought id get a nice new braded line one when I ordered some parts from mini spares a while ago.
Keep in mind that even though its been on there for about a year. The clutch has probably only been pressed a dozen times over that year due to the car sitting in my garage going nowhere.
Pretty terrible I thought
Time to put the old rubber one back on I think

Has anyone else had this happen before??

I'm only guessing, but from the phot it looks like the hose has been installed with a slight kink in it. This intern will damage the internal pipe.
Braided lines don't like to be twisted!

Cheers Shane

I prefer non-braided lines, you can see what condition the rubber is in. And often they are better made. I have seen several instances of braided lines having weak crappy rubber in them, because they rely on the braid to stop the hose from blowing out.
Examples I have seen/used:
UK made braided industrial compressed air hoses.
UK made bling oil cooler hoses for Minis.
In both these cases you can watch the hose squirm (get bigger & shorter) when the pressure hits it.
And as seen in the clutch hose pic above they do NOT like being twisted.

Agreed. Incorrect fitting by the look of it.
Kink = a build up of presssure in the hose = failure.

I have fitted many Goodridge braided hoses all have been fine.

Looks kinked in the photo but it is actually the outer plastic coating bloated out with brake fluid. Bad hose

Yea, it definitely isn't/wasn't kinked. it is a bit of a funny camera angle.
Above the yellow bit is a bubble in the outer coating.
