I've just noticed.... our young orange friend, meeni has a 1962 850 with a car number of 51608 whereas our fat grey loser (me) has a 1964 850 with a car number of 46841.....

as Pope John Pauline Howardson says...

Maybe Doc Emmet Brown fitted a flux capacitor to the back of your Mini, before it was finished on the factory line...and went forward in time (when he hit 88mph).....but was caught...and the Mini was sold as a 1964 model, yet it really was built in 1960......ey ey ey.....

Be careful when you go to regency... They always ask on 850s "Why is the body number there?!!!!" in the most stern voice possible. All that they know is that mini numbers are on the rad shroud.
They were about to hack all the paint off a brand-new restotation that Steve and I took down there one day for an ID inspecion.. Aargh! NO! Dont do that! Its an 850!... and thats where all the trouble started. It had a 1275, so the displacement increase was more than allowable. It already had 8.4" Rover discs, so then they said that the wheel track was too wide. Now we needed a Certificate Of Modification.

Dont you just love the Government?

How do you know yours is a 62?

The number sounds way too high for a 62. 8)
