Hi everyone I thought you might be interested in this its called a Terrapin. Its an openwheel race car that uses all Mini mechanical components. They were raced with a great deal of success from the late 60s till the mid 80s. At present there are several cars either being raced or built around the world with my car being completed early this year. I am more than happy to answer any questions you my have.As I dont know how to include a picture you can see them at

Thanks all for your replies the car in its present form is running a standard 1100 engine with a 40mm Dellorto attached it came out of the grey mini that can be seen in the corner of the garage in one of the pictures it had been sitting in a backyard for a number of years I put it in the back and hoped for the best and to my amazement it started and didnt blow any smoke. My intension was to use it as a set up engine it worked well for the first two outings but at Wakefeild two weeks ago It blew a head gasket. The one thing I have found out is the car is capable of much more than the 1100 is capable of giving so now ilm looking at my options for getting more power. The car should be suitable for HSRCA it was built exactly to the original design and has been issued with a build number from Terrapin Race Cars in the UK. The MK1 Cooper S that can be seen in some of the pics was my toy before the Terrapin it had a 1310 engine with a bit of a cam and would do a lap of Wakefield in 1min 20sec the Terrapin using the worn out 1100 engine with a blown head gasket on its last run of the day did 1min 24sec. The Terrapin was originally desgned for hillclimbs and many still run in the UK and getting fastest times of the day although they usually have bike engines in the rear.
I would be interested in talking to Chris from Ozmotorsport if anyone can give me his details
Cheers Wayne
