I've found this type at minispares and a few other places, but can't seem to find the original cage type switch (not the screw in type) ![]() Does anyone know of anywhere that has stock of the old type, or another model car that uses a similar one that would fit? |

You are looking for Linread brand switches. They are no longer made but come up on eBay quite often, especially eBay UK. Expect to pay good money for one given what it is because they are fairly rare. The Mini one has a bent shaft (see the one on the left in the photo with this eBay sale). http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ORIGINAL-LINR ... 41768c8b02 Another version has a straight shaft but this could be bent to suit. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Jaguar-E-Type ... 35cc0e78ff If you are not wanting originality there are other options - see this thread - viewtopic.php?p=496915 Otherwise try all the local Mini parts suppliers for second-hand ones - viewtopic.php?f=25&t=10543 |

I have switches similar to the ones in picture above (plenty in stock). They fit great on Mini. I have used them on my own cars too. Orders welcome. Email me. |

The Miniking (John Schmidt) was selling the door switches from another Leyland. They were new old stock and nearly identical, however the wire terminals did not turn 90 degrees like a mini. You can't bend them 90 degrees, so don't even try or they will snap..... I fitted them to my 69, and didn't have any fouling issues, but they don't suit all minis as the hole in the door frame moves a little further up I believe on some cars causing the switch to foul with the internal a panel. I am usure from where I am to check if the early cars switches are further up or down the door frame sorry. Might be worth a shot. |
