With two fuel pumps and a microtech ECU I think the standard Lucas 15ac alternator, with built in regulator, is at it's limit. Is there an up-rated alternator out there that bolts straight in. Has anyone used one of "convertable mini's" up-rated alternators?

Thanks

Yep I have one on my car, bolts on with no mods required and works perfectly. I'm powering a couple of amps, car charger, 12v electric heater, lights etc etc and it doesn't miss a beat. Money well spent.

Just ordered a 70 amp jobbie - arrived 1 day later, haven't fitted it yet but have every confidence. I ordered mine due to big amp sucking the life out when daughter turns the volume up, it would be an interesting exercise to see what draws the current ( pictures of Apollo 13 movie coming to mind)- i wouldn't have thought fuel pumps would draw that much ( read something like 1 amp for facet) but it all adds up.

I was actually quite surprised when my 15ac alternator kept up with my 78 clubby after upgrading the headlights, fuel pump, putting on spotlights and installing a modest sound system. It still worked fine, but it would certainly be pushing it...

I've since upgraded to one of Convertable Minis' alternators, and it has been great from day 1.

Actually running Michael, but not getting ahead of myself lots of tweeking with the computer still required. Apparently the Microtech requires a good flow of volts and was running pretty hot, that why the up-grade. Not to mention the clutch. Had to annoy GR again thinking there was some mysterious vice with the MED Ultra light flywheel set up as it wouldn't dis-engage. Eventhough the master and slave were working perfectly fine with the 1098 and had not been disconected, it managed to get a belly full of air. :? This build is going to fight me right to the end.
