Hi All.

I have a 1971 Mini Clubman which I bought as a partial resto - but it is missing the compliance plate from the body (i can see where it use to be attached). The VIN etc are on the old rego label - and no doubt the VIN would also be on the chasis somewhere.

What are my options in terms of either getting a replacement - or getting Vic Club plates without it?

Thanks, Paul.

The same numbers should still be be on the radiator shroud.
As the car has been registered in Oz before it should not be a problem. As it is NOT a VIN plate, it is an ADR compliance plate.

Standard 17 digit VIN plates started in 1980 (long after Oz Minis finished).

A missing compliance plate is not a reason to fail an RWC in Vic. See here under "Identification (Compliance) Plates / VASS Approval Certificates" on P10.

My Moke is a 71 and the compliance plate is missing too. Provided you have old rego papers or an old label so you can prove previous registration you will have no problems.

Cheers,

If you have the details why not buy a new plate? They are available on fleabay and other places.

That is a build plate, not a compliance plate. Minis from 1970 had a compliance plate and nobody makes replicas.

I think it might be naughty, because people could start creating their own Mini SS and 4 seater Californians!
