I'm having issues getting the top door hinge off, the bolt on the upper a panel closest to the door specifically. Has anyone got any tips or recommend a tool? I've had a 7/16 socket 1/4 drive with a uni joint but still cant manage the space to spin it off. I've done it on another car years ago and dont remember it being this annoying but maybe the brand of socket I used was smaller back then?

Any help appreciated.

Spray some wd40 on the bolt and I usually use an open ended 7/16 spanner and turn very slowly flat by flat

I use a sidchrome ring/OE spanner with a bend in the shank and the ring bit severely thinned down.

When I got my car, the nut was just sitting on the end of the thread. Obviously too hard for the PO.

Like Wombat, plenty of patience and an open ended spanner; twelfth of a turn, flip, twelfth of a turn, flip... Or a skinnier spanner.

I picked up at a Swap Meet some time ago a 1/4" square drive extension about 6" long but it is flexible ie it is made from a spring which I have found is excellent in getting into hinge nuts. It is a proprietary line but has no brand on it. Combined with a 7/16" x 1/4" drive socket they are small enough to get into even the top inner hinge nut.

Thanks guys for the replies.

Think I might remove the other nut then use the open ended spanner as suggested on the tight one . Might find an older spanner and grind it down a bit hoping a skinnier head will fit in easier. Patience is a virtue hey.

I'd seen them about and thought they could be gold for some irritatingly located nuts on a mini.
