Headlights could well be the switch. The switches are typically dual pole, they have a circuit on one side for the park and tail lights and the other side for the headlights. One side can go faulty. If you have the later style of switches (the black rocker switches) they can usually be opened up and cleaned and polished inside, to work as good as new again. Indicators could be anything, I'd start by replacing the flasher can. It would help to know what year model you have. Tim |

Thanks for the reply. I have a 1967 mini minor matic ill buy I new toggle switch for the lights an see if that works.I have replaced the flasher can but thats not the problem with the blinkers. Ill get a wire diagram an study up. Im not that switched on when it comes to electrics. When a car sits for 20 odd years in a shed you expect things like this to happen. |

The toggle switches can be opened up and repaired too. Normally they get corroded and oxidised and the grease inside them dries out. I polish up the copper contacts with fine wet and dry paper, clean them out with electrical contact cleaner and lubricate them with a little bit of white lithium grease. They should be good to go for another few decades. The toggle switches are a bit fiddlier to re-assemble, but not too bad. Tim |

Also check the earth straps. I recently had an issue and spent ages tracing wires etc and it was a bad earth. |

I had similar problems with my 1970 MiniMatic's headlight toggle switch 10 years ago. I sprayed Selleys RP7 in from the front, exercised it a few dozen times and it's been good ever since. ![]() |
