Took Boris out on the highway couple of days ago,we were sitting on 110km in fourth and he didnt seem to like going much faster,it was as if he wanted to change up a gear.I know this is reasonably quick but iv read post about peaple sitting on 130 in fourth and there mini;s loveing it.Im thinking of doing some mods and im not to sure where to start,im not to sure whether to start on the engine, suspension, brakes or so on,he has been bored out and has twin 1/4 cabies think i mite just get some green shag pile for the interior

I used to get about 150 in 3rd gear, 7500 rpm... :P
4th? No bloody idea!
Now it's got more cubes & a shorter 3.64 diff, it's slower max in the gears, but gets there faster!! 8)

<edit> Only on the track, of course...

well how about mine seems like its had enough at a certain speed. but oneday i pushed through it, for something to do  and it stilll had plenty :? like it did grow another gear, but ive only been there once, and im not doing it ever again in any car that isnt on a racetrack, so yeah, have a go, and push through the point where it seems like thats it, and see what happens  8)

I think its mostly in the diff and gearbox. Ive got the 1275 with a cam, extractors, still running the SU at the moment (soon to fit the weber) but cruise on 100km/h on the highway, dont really want to push it much harder... it does go harder but at 100km/h seems to cruise along nicely.

I keep thinking, theres no way its gona be "fast" on a track when my other car gets up to 210km/h down the hill straight at Barbagallos and I still have a gear to go  Its gonna have to be damn fast through the corners to go anywhere near the Nissan.

If you want top end speed in the Mini I think you need to go Cooper S gearbox/diff AND the 1275 engine. Ive still got the original Clubby van gearbox and diff :(

my old standard clubbie 1100cc used to pull about 135-140 kph max
i've topped out another stockie clubman 1100cc and it was the same..
morris might do a tiny bit more as the drag is slightly less..

first step if you want more power is to get her tuned properly hey, cos if she wont do more than 110kph then theres something wrong unless you have an 850

It's probably just a matter of getting used to the noise

My 1152 will sit on 100 very comfortably @ about 4100rpm, it actually likes to be closer to 130 than 120...tops out at 160ish...

Ahem, anything over 110 and you're breaking the law!!!

Seriously though on 3.44 diff you're doing 4400rpm on 4th at 110km/h so on greater ratio diff it will be higher RPMs...

my 998 likes sitting on 100km/h... any more it feels too much... Anyway, I wouldnt want to be doing much more considering the 4 eight inch drum brakes that would be pulling me up if there was to be an "incident"

the new moke on the other hand (1275) seems to push well beyond that but the wind is like being an ant in a hair dryer..!!!

Vivian sits quite comfortably on 110km/h. and you can push her
more if you feel like it to about 130 MAX
but im with Marcello. with drums, you dont want to give em too much
