So.... I was being my young, stupid self when I bought my new wheels thinking "sweet I can stretch my 145/80R10's onto my new 10x6inch wheels and it'll look awesome"
Now it will look awesome BUT it's totally illegal and thanks to Campbell douchebag Newman's New laws coming into effect in QLD on this coming friday, any defect will have your car impounded for 48 hours first offence.

Need help picking the right tyre size for these new wheels please....... :-D

Sent using taptalk - probably from my garage....

I've been looking through all the mini parts websites and widest 10inch tyre I can find is a 165mm wide tyre. Still not sure if this will be wide enough

Yep would be 145 too narrow ...

but 165/70/10 on a 6 should be OK but check manufacturers recommendations ....
(most contessa are 5.5 and fit without any dramas)

eg The Dunlop D93J and R7 is listed as 3.5 to 6

http://www.stuckey.com.au/tyres_details.aspx?TyreName=SP%20SPORT%20R7

but Yokohama only say 4.5 to 5.5

205/50-10 golf cart tyres will fit, I dunno if legal for street use but at least they are DOT approved!! :P
Most folks fit 165/70-10. Falkens look better on a 6" wheel than Yokos do as the tread is wider, but they don't grip as well.

I want to see a photo of that - I reckon it'd look dumb

Back in the 60s we all did that, 145 was only radial available.
I used to widen Mini wheels to 10x6 for Parramatta Speed Shop then.

I spotted a Cooper S wheel on a trailer with a 145 crossply on it once - looked terrible - tiny little tread and stretched out sidewalls

I swapped the wheel for a standard rim and a couple of serviceable Kumho 145s :D

I like the stretched sidewall look. It's popular with all the Japanese tuner boys but they can't stretch their 205/40R18's like we can an 80 profile. It looks much more stretched the smaller the wheel and we've got the smallest around :-D
