| Post subject: | Hoosier td tyres |
Wanting to give these tyres a go, has anyone used them and are they able to be used legally on the street. I'm guessing these tyres are used by the nb and nc racers am l right? |

you'd have to put up a bit more info than that - the only hoosers we see on minis are the race tyres, and no, not allowed on the street. Hoosier do have road tyres, but not aware of any that are road legal. |

You are right, the group n guys use these tyres for racing, but they are not street legal. They are a cross ply tyre rather than a steel belted radial. They are also really soft, and would not last on the road at all. They are only good for 1-2 race meetings on the track! I would probably use the Yoki A032R's for a quick road car. |

Dam, the American website (item number 44391)reckons they are a "street tread" tyre not much info on the Australian distributors website, the Australian distributor operates very close to where l live. Might give them a call. Hey number86 how long do the nb/nc guys get out of the yokahamas, do you guys run A008s or A032rs.... http://www.hoosiertire.com/pdfs/speccat.pdf |

Hi Davem I have not run the A032R's on the track, all the guys in SA run hoosiers which are quicker at Mallala than the Yoki's. Some of the victorian guys run them buffed down, but I'm not sure how long they last. I have run buffed Dunlop Formula R's which were not as good to race on, but lasted longer. Not sure if these are still available or not. Forget the A008's for racing, they are no good. I have run these for years on my road Cooper S though, and for that they are fine. But that gets driven like a grandma.... As always, the 'stickier' the rubber, the shorter amount of time you can expect them to last. Performance or longevity is the choice you need to make. |

Max Dumsney Motorsport MD Motorsport (syd) http://www.mdmotorsport.com.au/ & yes they are called a "Street TD", but they are not road legal here in Aust i ran them for years & years & years & love them to death, great tyre but need no camber set them up "straight up & down" |
