I know it's a few years away, but has anyone talked about organising minis at bathurst. 50 year celebration since they won. The same sort of event as 2006. |

I want to drive my mini around Bathurst! Would be a great reason and hopefully a mini club sanctioned event so can go on Historic rego! I'm sure it will happen, especially if someone can make a dollar out of it. Watto? |

A few of us have been thinking of the same thing. Would be nice to coincide with another event, ie Group N event, would be pretty easy to organise along with a show and shine, parade lap, guest drivers etc. Could be a great weekend. G. |

I looked at doing this in 2006. There was a guy who had already "bought the rights" from the V8SC company. I, and other MCCNSW members were prepared to organise an event at Bathurst at no cost to participants, but had the rug pulled out from under us by the greed of the V8SC company that really does not care about the history of the event. Not taking anything away from the way that the guy who ran the event, because although he charged people money to participate, by all accounts everyone who did pay felt it was worth it. I imagine that boat has already sailed if the same commercial interests are involved. Otherwise get on it now to lock it down, but get anything and everything in writing from the main organisers. Be prepared to sign a contract and pay for it. cheers michael |

I am planning on getting mine back on the road for the 2016 Bathurst. It would be great if we could get a couple of hundred Minis together and do a lap of the circuit. Does anyone have contacts? Is there anything planned already? |

I too am aiming to have mine on the road by then and travel to Bathurst for that race. I don't think there will be a shortage of mini's there that weekend! ![]() |

2 October 2016, exactly 50 years since that fateful day, is a Sunday and happens to be the Labor day long weekend in NSW. This would be one of the best reasons I have heard of for some time to have my "S" on the road and attend. I now have a very good goal for the completion of one of the longest restorations, car was bought in August 1999. Hope it comes off and see many more Minis of all shapes and sizes on the day. |
