Hello out there, Does anyone know which side of the hydro pipe the SU fuel pump breather tube should be, i.e. either inboard or outboard? - I ask because the breather on my car is still in the original place, but the aftermarket hydro pipes are the wrong shape, & can easily be moved either inboard or outboard, but right now, the hydro pipe is smack bang over the top of the breather, & if I'm going to fit a new breather tube (to go with the lovely new pump), I reckon it deserves to be in the right spot! Cheers from Ian in ADL. |

I wish I could help more, but here is the underside of mine. The hydro pipe swings straight inboard, so I'm fairly certain the breather will not have a problem going to the outside, but my memory is a little vague on what goes on behind the subframe...

Thanks for the reply Mick, It seems that the Mk 1 & Mk 2 hydro lines are different, as yours with the full length pipe covers are about ten inches further outboard than mine, (which have corner covers only), & are located close to the exhaust pipe tunnel. From your picture, the breather pipe would definitely be on the outside of the hydro line, so that's where mine will be going too. That is today's job sorted then, - Thanks! |

It isn't a Mk1/Mk2 thing, it was changed some time in 67, so about half way through the Mk1. |

Possibly around the same time as the wipers? |

About twelve months before the wipers. |

Yes! - You're correct, the wipers changed at 4029 in 1968. I had forgotten the dates. Our new fuel pump, breather tube & braided hoses all installed now.. The test drive in the hills was lots' of fun. |
