Hi All,

I've got an 850 with the long UK length numberplate section. I've been looking on myplates.com.au at the Euro plates and the rear plates are the exact dimensions of the UK ones. The random issue plates have a one-off fee, and "upgrading" my current one to the Euro style is a one-off fee as well.

The black plates with the white letters look pretty good, and they come with the smaller size front plate. I think it would look nicer at the back with a full length plate?

Does anyone have something similar on their car at the moment? Also, what would be a likely NSW plate for a 1963 car? It currently has a yellow plate from the 90's on there, before Dad remembers it was LKA-xxx during the 80's, and the RTA can't tell me what it was before the 90's..

Tim

For NSW, according to the Red Book Price Guide, the prefix CXG began in 1963 and DFP in 1964, so something between those would be correct.

Ok thanks for that! My grandparents have BLL and CLY, so they would be too early then.

Thanks, good to know. My grandad (BLL) had a good friend who was a BMC dealer and he just so happened to get his initials on a plate when they came out...

PS I've since sold the V-Mini 1 plates, however still have the V-Mini plates hanging on my garage wall.

My mother in laws 850 has DEA- prefix (NSW) on the number plates. Car is a Nov 1963 model purchased new in Jan 1964.

:D

Still sporting the original plates and owner. :)

I quite like the Classic Euro in white. Mmm. And the full size rear is de rigueur. I'd even fancy the full size on the front as well. Just my thoughts. Tassie doesn't have a lot of choice (within financial reason) for plates (other than football and motif plates). Victoria have "custom" and "custom mix" etc that all offer more variation for different price points. Hopefully you can get something apt without a yearly fee!

NSW has about 75 different combinations of premium colours and styles.. If I keep VDH I'll have to get the southern cross or harbour bridge one, if I want a "N" plate it would be random issue to avoid the yearly fee.

Always nice to have that history in the family

I did a little photoshop with the classic black ones. The old yellow one doesn't really fit, and it's had a notch cut out of it to clear the lamp
