G'day All,

Just picked up a new mini and it came with "some spares", which was a bit of an understatement :shock:. Anyway being new to mini's I've plucked out the stuff below which i think is probably worth a bit however some guidance to how much exactly would be nice as i will sell most of it. (If this is the wrong section to ask this can a mod please move my post).

Anyway this some of the stuff:

Set of reconditioned 1 1/4 SU's

Another carby think its 1 3/4?, is in great working condition.

New set of hastings? 1275 + 020 pistons and rings

1275 long motor.. it think as the code of the block is DCR022, weird and not a mini code as far as i know maybe someone can help me with what it is.

I think its been bored out to 1380, can i check this on the pistons?

A 998 engine and gearbox supposedly was running great before he dropped at 1275 in the car.

There's tonnes of other bits and bobs, couple starter motors couple more distributors, steering racks (ones good), but like i said, I want an idea on what to price to chuck on stuff.

No the steering racks are not new, ones knackered and he said the other was good, I'll get pics later.

these are both 1 1/2" - not worth much. Maybe $30 for the first one, $10 for the second

rings would be hastings, not the pistons, I can't tell. Wouldn't be worth more than $100

the pistons might be stamped, but put a ruler across the bores and measure as accurately as you can. It does look like its been bored a long way. Make sure you keep those bearing caps (3rd photo) with the block!!

When you say long motor, that means head, rods, cam, crank and everything in between. It looks incomplete from those photos. Catalog whats there and measure the bores.

Also measure the thickness of the block between the pairs of cylinders (1-2, 2-3 and 3-4) and post that up. Its a useful bit of information that is needed when dealing with big bores.

If it is a 1380, and hasn't been bored right, then the block is really pretty well worthless, but the crank, cam, head and rods are worth a bit.

I personally would like to buy that head

'supposedly running great' can mean a lot - $400 if you're lucky - anyone buying it is taking a gamble

they're cheap to buy new, so unless you can figure out what it actually is, then it's worth nothing. I'd guess its for the 1275, but is it a standard or high volume?? no idea without knowing numbers on it

find a brand or numbers, then dig around to find a value.

Ebay is a good way to find values of things - search for completed sales

The markings on the float bowl tags on the twin SU's will show the specification (i.e. what car they were built for). It will be AUDnnn format. If you post it I can look it up for you.

unless whoever put them together is like me and just grabbed the shiniest pair of tags they had in their box of carby parts :D

You are right, of course. Although most of the time the tags are lost or simply left off because they don't perform any function. But adding a wrong tag is possible.

Thanks Guys.

I'll look through the other boxes of smaller bits see if i can find the linkages for that twin carby.

There is more parts for the 1275 but I'm not sure if its complete but there is defiantly the head, rods, and crank there and 1000s bolts.

What is with the code on the block "DCR022" ? or am i looking in the wrong spot for it. (I'm looking in the same spot as the code printed on my block which is 12YEAH###)



I'll pull everything out of the boxes and take more photos on the weekend.

The markings on the float bowl tags on the twin SU's will show the specification (i.e. what car they were built for).

The markings will show what car the tags were built for. 8)

In response, I argue that the tags themselves cannot, in fact, be "built", as they aren't "buildable" in the common-law sense that they are assembled in a manner that would render them functional, from a number of individual parts. The tags are pressed and stamped, or "made", not "built". Therefore the "they" referred to in your previous statement must be subjective of an item that is actually "buildable", the only such item in said statement being "the twin SU's"

So there :P

i would think the 1 1/2 carbs 'could' fetch a bit more than 30 and 10.. but if you put them on ebay with those amounts as starting bids ( a good hs4 on a manifold could go 75-100) then the market could decide

If its your birthday then you share it with the king of Thailand, Bhumibol Adulyadej, the worlds longest serving monarch at 63 years and counting.

It is a national holiday and also fathers day here in Thailand today. A great day to have a birthday!
