How much trouble should I expect to be in for getting this when the Mrs comes home tomorrow from hospital with our second child?

Rather you than me!

What are you planning to do with it?

I'm going to make it into a trailer. Just need to source a rear subframe with all the bits and fill the holes in. Am going to use van rear doors on it

Just hide it. As long as it's not in the nursery, you'll be right :)

Of course, I am a bachelor.

Have you got the rear doors?
Are you going to use the front doors as well and if not, are you going to cut it off at the front door frame or fill in the door holes?

Make a nice trailer that. My first Mini was a van and it was amazing what you could put into it.

I don't have any rear doors yet. And am thinking about using it at that size but filling it in and making the side windows open like gull wings

Sounds like a good plan, though I'd get it working first, then do the windows ... mainly because I have a healthy track record for turning the stupidly easy into the outrageously impossible.

Maybe you could fit some (or one) front door for front access. They are a long cabin to start with and with using the cockpit as well, you may appreciate some extra convenience.

From memory, the battery goes under a shelf just behind the driver's seat, an area you could turn into a secret and lockable compartment (that is from memory, I may be wrong).

Fun project.

Don’t worry…….you should be fine with a pillow and sleeping bag snuggled up inside the back of it.
I would suggest laying it down…….unless you can sleep standing up…..And hope like hell your forgiven before winter……..

I would be more worried that she will not believe the price you got it for……..
Try explaining your way out of that one…………

That's what made it irresistible to pick up...
And yes grouch that's the plan, get it going and registered before the windows change. And the battery usually sits behind the drivers seat as you've said. Will sort some sort of access into the front section

Back door luckily. I was going to leave it out the front but it was easier than I thought to get it where it is on my own

Tell her she's delirious with medication, there is not half a mini in the garage at all.

...and congratulations:)
