Looking at some really nice cranks lately, and hearing some stories of cracking at tail in both c clip and non c clip versions. Is it just the mad revs causing this, or are there other theories? When engaging clutch at high revs could the tiniest misalignment of flywheel centring cause eccentric forces that end up in the dreaded three prong crack..? All theories and remedy suggestions welcome. |

yeah theres the "de-clutch" theory (which i can agree with to a point) yes & then there is all the harmonics added to the flywheel wobble with it sitting so far outward/rearward then there is all the other fatigues goin on it`s anyones guess so yes it really is a case of attempting to elliminate or at least try to lessen the chances of it happening, any way you can but like i`ve said a million times, you can do what ever you can & they can still go bang

Hi FNQ I have had the unfortunate experience of an MED arrows crank fail in my race car. GR inspected the crank and his opinion was the the slot cut in the tail of the crank had weakened the nitride, this problem has occurred in a couple of other cars that I am aware of and I am unsure wether arrows have resolved the issue. I still use the MED arrows crank anyway so time will tell. Cheers Chris |
