Post subject:  rotisserie and panel repair question with pics
i have a 1974 mini clubman. i have to replace the boot floor as it has been firbeglassed at some stage, the rear seat in the boot section has had bad patch put in and i know that it will be bad underneath, i also bought a new parcel shelf as some places knock back your car for roadworthly certificate (RWC) for rego if there has been holes cut in it for speakers etc.

it has the hole in the back seat that came from factory, but the panel repair section i got doesnt have it. how do i go about repairing/replacing the sections, what steps do i do first etc.
If i build a rotisserie where do i bolt all this to as i have to cut the rear seat out boot floor and parcel shelf, do i use the rear shock bolts to mount the rear, where do i brace up before removing the panels in question. I know where to bolt at the front but at the rear :?:

Have put some pics up of what i have and the panels i bought. i know i have to strip the subframes, wiring etc out before i do anything. yes i know the holes dont look that bad in the parcel shelf ive seen worst but some people are now really bad with old cars and want to defect them for anything, they say it looses streghth in that area.

please help. any advice would be great.

The rotisserie can indeed be bolted down to the rear towers as you have said. You will need a couple of big nusts as spacers as the tops have cups welded in.

As for bracing, I would do it on the ground without the rotisserie, but I wouldn't expect it to move too much anyway being just the parcel tray.

Hi Norm,
You've bought a new parcel shelf because the current one has speaker holes?
And the new panel has speaker holes too?
It will look a little neater, and maybe standard looking
But why not get a shelf with no holes? or just tidy up the current holes?

Personnally , i would strip the paint off the rusty boot area and see just how bad they are , to me , they don't look too serious , you may be creating more work than you need too, ( only my opinion going by your photo's ) .

i'm also going to be replacing the boot floor seat section which i have but where did you get the replacement panel for the back of the seat. was it available in oz or did you bring it in from the uk.

Those patch panels could be hiding a lot of rust...you should drop the rear sub frame and fit your new panels...

thats why i bought new ones. i dont like the patches in the car.
