Hi all,

I've just swapped out my drums for discs, and as I understand it, new hoses are required. I bought 2 new hoses, replaced the right hand hose without issue, but then I found the flare nut on the other side was rooted, and couldn't get it off. But I needed to attach the caliper to stop it from leaking, and it fit just fine. The old hose seems to work!

The disc brake hose is a couple cm shorter, but apart from that, what's the difference between the two?

I do intend to put on the new hose - any ideas on how to get the old one out? I wound out the big nut so I had access to the flare nut, but couldn't get it to budge, even with a pair of vise grips. I'm thinking of getting a bigger pair...

Disc brake hoses are an inch or so shorter. You can use drum brake ones, but make sure they are positioned so they don't rub on the tiebars. Undo the big locknut and rotate the hose if necessary.

I did my drum to disc brake conversion and kept the drum brake hoses. One side was fine. The other side I had adjust like drmini said.
