Hey all, how do I lift the deluxe onto jackstands? I was wanting to paint the wheels from the primer grey they are in to either silver or white for a little more contrast. I'm not sure if I wanna remove all 4 wheels at a time or 1 at a time. But then there would be a bit of a wait time while the wheel dries!!! I've got a normal crocodile jack and jackstands here. Can I just jack it up from the cross member and pop the stands at the edges of the cross member? or is there anywhere on the edge of the body where I can put it? |

Only jack the car from the subframes. I use the flat parts. Don't jack from the sill or the floor etc - you never know how much rust is hidden under the body. |

Put the stands on the subframe as well. If you know that your engine mounts are in good condition you can put a bit of timber under the sump and jack from there. It makes it easier than jacking one side at a time. |

I use a trolly jack and I locate it on one of the tie rod ears at the front corner of the subframe. I find the car to be rigid enough so I can lift it right up high and then slip both stands in at the same time under the lower control arm mounts in the subframe. You can jack on the front cross member but you should use a "special" shaped piece of timber and their are details on this timber in some Factory manuals and handbooks. It is not recommended you jack (or tow) the rear up by the cross member. |

I use 4 holden rims and 2 mini rims the mini rims fit in the 13 inch rim then a block of wood on top and under both side corner of floor the best and safest jack stands you can make |

I often jack my car up and put it on 4 stands , mainly because i find it easier to work on . That way i can work on both the top & underneath it . I have a large floor jack that i position under the centre of the G/box & jack the front up first , i then position the stands under the flattest parts of the subframe . I then position the floorjack under the rear subframe at the back , i take my time jacking the rear up , so as not to put too much weight too quickly on the front stands because they can move and the car can slip off the stands . I make sure the 4 stands are at equal heights . After i have the car sitting on all 4 stands on its own , i give it a "GENTLE" rock to check to see if it is stable , the last thing you want is it falling on you if your under it , and to be extra sure i put a couple of rims or large blocks of wood under the area that i am working on. I just recently modified 4 stands to suit both my mini and my Falcon because the U shaped piece on the top of the stands was too unstable , ie; ( metal on metal ) so i had some flat 10mm plates welded on instead , i then glued some thick rubber on the plates so they should work well .

Don't tell me your lawn actually looks like that.... The floor where the box section runs across for the seats is a strong point. So you can jack up from there 1 side at a time, but care MUST be taken to ensure 1 side doesn't fall off the stands as you jack the other side up. Where the floor pan meets the wheel well, or to say it another way, where the floor pan meets the vertical panel is also a strong point. It is fine to place the stand there, but make sure its on the strong edge, not further in just on the floor pan. And maybe don't put the stand there if it's all rusted out. |

Normally I reverse onto some ramps then jack the front up and put stunds under the subframe. Very stable. Plenty of room to roll underneath |

All good. Raised the rear first on the subframe and did the rear wheels. Then the fronts. as when I raise the rears first the jack I had didnt go high enough to lift the front enough for the stands to go in. Looks like someone already tried lifting the car on the sills as theres a dent. lol |
