My speedo cable has broken in the gearbox. Unfortunately for me the gearbox is still in the car.
I have unscrewed the cable casing at the gearbox but can see the broken end in the gearbox recess. If I undo the engine mount and jack the engine, will I be able to get my hand in location and maybe use tweezers to pull the cable end out of the gearbox recess. Any tricks would be great.

Have you tried to undo the singular bolt holding the entire threaded assy to the gear box and then remove the whole kit and kapoodle? Its a tight squeeze but you can undo that bolt and remove it all from under the car.

I removed the bolt and retainer, then pulled the circular centre piece out. My broken speedo cable and its thick end piece are wedged ( about an inch long). I couldn't remove them with pliers.
