Hi guys im new to the forum and own a 75 clubby.
Out of curiosity how does the performance of your minis compare against newer model cars on the street?
eg A cammed 1275 versus a standard Swift gti
or a turbo 998 versus a Falcadore etc
My standard 998 got eaten by an automatic mitsubishi colt!!

My old (well worked) 1310 used to chew up my mate's stock GTI at the lights, but my Mini is now 1360 and even quicker now...

not mini related...

poeee and myself were driving just before. poeee was driving his parents standard auto ST162 3SGE Celica. We were at a set of traffic lights. After taking off normally, we heard a screech of tyres, so poeee decided to put his foot down. After easily beating this Pulsar with really dark tint, an after market exhaust, and a metal Militia sticker, we stopped axcelerating at 60km/h, which was the speed limit. The pulsar did what poeee called a "loser flyby". We had a good laugh.

i call it the loser flyby also. :D

a stocko 998 will lose to a colt which is 1.4L - 1.6L

i always win the traffic light grand prix, and non sporting cars under 2.0L are but specks in my rear view mirror

I did EXACTLY the same thing on the way home just then. This guy in a pulsar did the loser fly-by after I demolished him at the lights. He thought he was hot crap coz he blew past me after I stopped accelerating at 60.

Oh man...... thats bad!!

Years ago......I was a V8 man. I had a big phat HZ Premier with worked 308 and Turbo 400 Auto trans. I was at the lights and this dirty black Sigma pulled up next to me. We excahged 'glances' and when the light changed we both nailed it!

 ...oh crap.... ....this thing ate my V8......he was packing a turbo.

As he left me in his dust, he gave me a 'I told you so' sign out the window.

That is harsh getting whipped by a colt.
I used to eat V8,s 10yrs ago in my cordia turbo.
Allot of young people back then didnt think 4's could nail a V8
it used to be so funny as they looked so sure at lights that they would win.
miss that car.

i read a car review for a new subaru wrx that said they took off from the lights and there was a lane merge shortly ahead but the colt beside them at the lights beat them to it as the wrx took so long to get on boost

i wouldnt worry about losing to a colt, they've got a big advantage in capacity and a 998 is only for sipping at petrol like a english lady does at a cup of tea

You know whats funny ... when you are sitting at a set of lights (in the suzuki gti i had) and you see a highway patrol car hiding in the bushes about 1km down the road ;) ... then a shitbox v6 commodore with p plates pulls up next to you and wants to drag ... you of course kick his ass, but knowing the highway patrol is waiting you stop when you get to the speed limit ... then the dumb ass in the commodore does a "loser fly by" and hits about 100km in a 60 zone ... then 10 seconds later you see those flashing blue and red lights and a few hundred metres down the road, you see that P Plater losing his licence on a double demerits point weekend. My mate and I just cruize past at 40km/hr and they get the bird!

All i can say is .... UNLUCKY!
