Here's an interesting one. Remote gearbox. Cannot get from second to third gear, but no trouble going from fourth to third. Solution? Reverse detent plunger rod worn. Worn rod turns and locks out third gear when changing in one direction, but ok when going back the other way. Replaced the detent rod, and all is fine. |

dunno if this is the same sort problem, but weeks ago, i had trouble getting into 3rd from 2nd. This was purely just the flow of the gear stick when goin for 3rd gear. i simply kept missing the slot. once u sort out the perfect spot for when it goes in, get the feel of it. and u wont scew up, be gentle, dont force gears cause u'll know it when u do. hope that helps. peace twista |

Twista, Selection probs like that are common in old rodchange boxes as the reverse gate `block' is in the shifter housing and any slack between there and the gearbox can result in blocked shifts, particularly 2-3. But on a remote box, the reverse gate mechanism is inside the box and this problem is uncommon. But.. remotes do suffer from a weak reverse lockout spring- if trying hard 2-3 you can finish up across in the reverse gate. ![]() ![]() |
