Hi all, I have never been able to get my handbrake to work and I can't work out why. It comes on, but isn't strong enough to hold the car on a steepish slope. Today while I changed the hubs to standard sized spacer hubs and put a new set of pads in, I had another look and can't see what i'm missing. Does anyone have a guide or any handy hints to make it work. Cheers Ryan |

The handbrake runs through a few channels underneath the car - make sure that these are greased up well. If you keep following the cable back, there will be a quadrant at each side that should move with the cable. Make sure that these are free to move too, and add more grease. And finally, make sure that the little lever where the cable attaches to the drum is free to move as well. Adjust the cable so that it takes a few clicks before it engages - if you leave only one or two the leverage isn't very good and you will need to apply more pressure. |

I had same problem it ended up being the levers that r on the back wheels which make the hand brake work were to worn so replaced them with a different set now I can lock wheels at 50 kms on a straight tar road ![]() |

The cables run into the back of the handbrake lever and are held on by some nuts. You can tighten them to give more or less braking |
