I know this has been asked before, but after a search, I can't find a satisfactory answer. How do you stop the door hinge screws from loosening on external hinge doors? would 'star' washers hold any tighter than conventional spring washers? If Loctite was to be used, which one? ![]() |

The nuts should be enough, but overtightening may pull the studs from the hinge requiring a recoil insert to be fitted. A helicoil would make a stronger thread, and more torque can be applied to hold the door hinge straight. Make sure you have the angled washers fitted on the top hinges, and that the nuts aren't stripped. |

John, what size and thickness are the 'large' washers? Do they only go under the upper hinge bolts? Do you have them? cheers John |

You can get them of the bolt rack at auto shops, or buy them as grab kits. They're especially large washers with very small holes relatively to spread the load and prevent panel distortion as you tighten them down. http://championpartsonline.com.au/index ... t_id=19609 |

I Do Have a couple in stock I am waiting for more stock, has I have them Made Because I have trouble buying them the correct thickness, They must be thin as they take the shape of the door skin, They are only used on the top hinges on the rear although some people like to use them top and bottom If You cannot get them as suggested above Give Me a call 0427671314 or if You like send Me a PM |

If you can't find any you can make them from a 1/2" aluminium rod (got this advice from here: http://www.theminiforum.co.uk/forums/to ... -14a7387/a . Cheers Dave |
