Hi all,

I am moving house and therefore the project!

It's only a 15 minute drive, but I'll need to shift it via a tow truck. Every bugger I've tried so far (5 companies) has either not replied, or refused the job. I'm in Brisbane BTW.

Any ideas?

I recall a mate of mine hired a trailer to move one of his project cars (not a mini though) when he was in a similar situation. Just need to have a car capable of towing the trailer (or have a buddy with one). Could be a solution? He just googled car trailer hire or something to that effect, IIRC (it wasn't like he knew the right guy or anything, is what I'm getting at).

Also, some levels of RACQ have unlimited towing, if you're a member maybe claim it "broke down"? Worth a shot, hey?

I used redcliffe towing for my project and he was great, really careful and helpful. Not so good if you aren't on the peninsula. If you have a towbar, just hire a car trailer. Most have a winch which will help you get it on and off safely.

I used a car trailer when I picked my car up for the first time. Done it by myself, with the winch on the trailer. Cheaper than hiring someone to do it as they charge a base rate, especially on a Sunday.

I've always used my ute and hires a car trailer. I've never moved a mini - only bigger cars. With a few people and a runup, you can get a 1800kg car on, so a 600kg car should be a piece of cake.

Any car with a towbar that's not tiny should do the trick. My ute is only 62kW, that still tows well.

If you get stuck, I have a mini sized car trailer in Brisbane. No good for steep driveways.

No power, no brakes?

Isn't that how they come from the factory?

This is why Australian businesses go broke....a can not do attitude! I am guessing if it had power and brakes you probably would not need a tow truck.

My dad towed a mini 300ks on a 6*4 trailer. Without an engine the combined weight was under 750kg, the legal limit for towing without trailer brakes. Mini is less than 4ft wide but longer than 6ft.
