Hi Guys,
Going on the Pics in the brochure, it appears I should have a Dizzy with Vacuum advance. How does that connect?
I am thinking of a 123 distributors. Could go the 29D that's currently on there, but I shluld have the vacuum advance..
Cheers BRett

Yeah I tried to zoom in but it's not clear in those scans. There would be a visible thin vac advance tube running up to the carburettors if it had one. Do you think you can see a vacuum unit on the side of the dissy?

Nah. They just haven't bothered with a footnote that the s has no vac advance. Should have a 23D fitted on Cooper S with No vac advance.

Also remember this is marketing. If they had said in a footnote "no vac advance on Cooper S" then to the average person that makes it sound like the cooper s is missing out on a feature.

Don't believe him Brett, everybody knows that the Mk 1.5 Cooper S has vacuum advance.

The reason the S didn’t have vacuum advance is that it is a fuel economy device that works during part throttle cruise. No one was ever expected to drive an S other than balls to the wall…… And, fuel was cheap.

Back then the local BP (Kensington) gave a discount if you bought $2 worth. The trouble was that you couldn’t fit 2 bucks worth in a Mini… But then no one said you could only fill up one Mini ;)

No one should be without vac advance today.

Cheers, Ian
