I'm having a blonde day here - to adavnce timing, I rotate dizzy anti-clockwise - correct?

As far as I remeber clockwise it is...

Generally the revs will increase the more you advance the timing from standard, are you setting your timing using a timing light if so you should be able to see the numbers on the fly wheel.

I just put a bloody big (reasonable size) spotch of paint on the timing mark

you will have to find out the direction your rotor button turns to definitely find out which way is advancing

but
in Herman and Trev (my only a series models)
turning the dissy body clockwise advances it

if youre game
loosen the clamp bolt,
turn on car
and turn it either way

retarding will sound like its slower
advancing will cause it to pick up its revs

retarding too much
and advancing too much
will cause it to slow as well. you will have to find a nice balance

Yep I originally thought it was clockwise, so advanced it, but must have been too far as it had no power, and wouldn't rev over 3,000. Didn't ping tho, so I thought I had retarded it.

Mental note - baby steps...
