Hi all,

the moustache grille I have is pitted quite badly, so I decided to purchase a new one. HOWEVER.....the fit onthe new one is so bad, nothing like the old one. Has anyone had a similar experience..I just assumed (foolish I know) that it would be a similar fit...So my next question is, can anyone recommend a re-chroming place, preferably on the northern beaches somewhere, and a rough price for a moustache. Cheers!

There are at least three different Genuine Grille surrounds, and they all fitted a little differently
The fact that Yours is Pitted I would guess, That it is off an early Car no Later than 1966,
Yours May cost a lot to Re Chrome because the metal is very thin and when the plater
tries to polish it prior to chrome plating it he may go through the metal
or he may have to put a thick coat of copper on it then re polish it
all this takes time and costs Money, The best Electroplater I know is BLU Chrome Electroplaters
in Condell park, A bit far from You

Yes use an original part if possible the new ones don't fit or look quite right , I took my surrounds to Enware taps in Caringbah 1 of them had rust with holes they soldered them up finished them and plated them , a very good job .
