Can the plunger at the end of the clutch arm be removed from the outside of the housing or will the bearing fall free inside if I pull it out?

I have a new arm, plunger, and pins here I'm trying to fit.

No, it cannot fall into the clutch space. There's too much flywheel gubbins in there to allow that to move more than a small amount inwards.

It won't pull outwards either, it is retained in place by the bearing.

Gee, it's holding on pretty tight. Is it a press fit in the bearing?

Yes it is a press fit. A very tight press fit as you will find when you try and get the new bearing onto the new shaft :)

Well, this is one job I'm going to leave until tomorrow. I'll fit the arm and see if it makes a difference but the old one didn't look too bad.

youll have to take the wok off the gearbox to change the whole assembly.

Yes the alloy (Wok) clutch cover needs to be removed,,, un-do the engine mount, remove the starter motor etc,,, take all the bolts out from around the outside of the Wok, jack the engine up & lift/jiggle the wok out,,, remove the overthrow nuts & pull the pivot pin out & slide the bearing carrier out

press out the old bearing & then do whatever you want to do with bearing & carrier etc

replace it all in the reverse order & Bob`s your Aunty :-)

I managed to adjust the clutch with the new arm and a quick bleed of the slave. It works well now, disengaging about half way to the floor. I might save the plunger for a rebuild as none of this seems to have made an improvement on the grinding gears.

Took it for a drive around motorbike shops with my son. It was funny watching one bloke checking the bikes outside the shop while his other half only had eyes for the mighty 850. Some bloke grabbed some photos of it too. I knew I should have washed it.

Your gonna get people taking photos everywhere. My old ratvan that looks like a piece of poo poo still get people stopping to take photos and remember the good ol days. It usually starts with I used to have one just like this....

It's strange, I get that all the time.
Discovered a couple taking photos of mine ("68 deluxe that looks pretty ordinary) in the carpark at Westfield just recently-not the first time either.
