How much would new shock absorbers affect the ride height of a mini? I would have thought very little if at all but I thought I would bounce the question here as others might know something I don't?

No shocks wont affect your ride height.

If you want to change your ride height, go for hilos. They're a very cheap mod and easy to install. A cone compressor makes things easier, but not necessary. A set of hilos is cheaper than a set of new shocks.

The shocks act as a damper - there is no (or very little) spring tension in them. The rubber cones act as the spring, the shocks act as the damper.

I thought so. I have the new rubbers and hilos but I'm tired of waiting for them to settle. I don't want to add new shocks if it will slow down the process.

It shouldn't affect the process at all. It's not just a matter of waiting for the new rubber to settle in just from the weight of the car - you might need to 'flex' it a little - like how stretching a balloon before you blow it up makes it easier. A few work-outs around some nice corners should speed the process up a little.
