Manual blocks can not fit on auto gearboxes so if the engine is fitted to a auto box then it's an auto.

99H119/H559 is a Matic motor. They were fully imported so they use the UK prefix codes.

The Deluxe had 9YA/Ta/H motors.

All the MiniMatics (except maybe the earliest) had a 99H/119/H motor I think. Mine is 3/70 and had one.
Note the Mk2 Matics (with the K dash) are YA2S5, not YA2S4.

Your car should be a YMA2S4 approximately 1800 based on the data I have. Does it have a model stamping in the radiator shroud?

I think they built around a thousand cars with the first batch of imported engines, these numbers seem to be issued randomly like the Cooper S, low numbers cars have high numbered engines and vice versa.
Somewhere between car 1519 and 1735 they changed from the 9AN/AH/ engines to the 99H/119/H engines.
I think they changed the codes in the UK plants after Leyland took over around the middle of 68.

That narrows it down further. And it also helps date the cars (I just need the date that the UK changed the code!).

Some people try to say that 99H119/H/ means mk2 Matic.

My Mum bought a brand new matic on the 22/5/1968, I have scanned the original purchase document and the original registration certificate and noticed the engine number is recorded differently on both, the purchase document says 9ANAH 150 where the rego says 99H119H150 who knows.
