Hi all,

Can anyone recommend a freight company to transport basically a complete Mini front end (it's the complete engine with all ancillaries mounted in sub-frame, steering and disk brakes, no body panels) from Adelaide to Perth?

I'm not in a rush so willing to wait for a back load to get best price.

Cheers

No such thing as a back load to perth... cause 90% of everything comes via roadfrieght to perth most trucks come home loaded where as lots head back east empty. Your best bet is to just call the major freight companies and get quotes.

Or try comanies like bunker freight lines or Cleveland freight lines.

A smaller company called jolly and sons also run east west. May possibly have an empty trailer coming home.

We use most of the larger companies where I work but none are particularly cheap. I got a quote today from TNT Road Express, 250kg Sydney to Perth, just over $300. Toll are generally more expensive. WA Freightlines do a regular run from Melbourne-Adelaide-Perth.

You'll also get better prices if you ring and tell them you're getting quotes.

$300 for 250kg seems about right

Yea, not bad. Now just to do the deal on the motor and work out how to sneak it into the garage without the better half spotting it!

I've done a few bits - gearboxes and sets of wheels - via e-go. It's much cheaper to do depot-depot. I think it's 50% cheaper than picking up from a residential address.

E.g. 300kg in a box 100x100x100cm is $290 from Sydney to Perth

None of the big boys TNT, WA Freightliners etc will ship for private customers!! Seriously!

E-go has quoted $400! Just waiting to hear back from a few others :D

It might have something to do with thier contracts with freight forwarding companies.
