It's a Morris 1100S, you can tell by the front engine plate & mounts.
Yeah in unknown condition, I'd say up to $800.

The head also confirms it's not a 1275, the fact it's been sat for 15 years I wouldn't offer more than $400 (I'd be starting at $200 if it weren't a mate!).

The engine number should start with 12Y.
The 1100S is a 1275cc, the head just won't have the extra bolts as fitted to the Cooper S.
The head a 12G940.
They are a good base for a hotted up 1275. I think they have a large journal crank as well that can be ground offset for stroking - but are prone to cracking.
I spent $4000 doing one up for my Leyland SS.
$200 if it is seized, $800 if it runs.

thanks Guys don't really need a new motor at moment but I guess parts are good to have.
there is few more motors, gearboxs, doors etc in the shipping container but he is to lazy to pull the out at the moment.
Might go past on the weekend and clean it out for him.

his dad who use to own the workshop had a few mini copper s back in the day so how knows whats in there.

If you can take a few photos and post them on here I am sure will be able to work out if there is anything worth buying.

As a guide I purchased a similar motor from Ebay with only block, crank, rods and camshaft for $430 just before Christmas.

I'd value the engine you have around $500 if you want the gearbox and head.

There is always a risk the motor will need a fair bit of machining so don't spend too much.

On the other side 1275s are getting harder and harder to get.

HRS

It's a 12G940, I can tell from 1st pic.

[edit] That plate on the motor means it was rebuilt by Repco. Back when they actually did work besides selling parts.

I wouldn't be offering $800. I would be starting around $300. Then move upwards.

But I'm a Pov and generally don't buy things unless I know im getting a good deal.
