Just trolling parts suppliers, and drooling at some of the gear ( expensive) and noted Med making multisteel gaskets. Are 73.5mm head gaskets all offset???- and is there any standard clearance between bore size and fire ring - to ensure the gasket doesn't get eaten - never really stopped to think about the in and outs??? |

i replaced 2 head gaskets .1st time block wasn't true .second time after next to no milage removed head myself to find gasket again blown between 2&3 cylinders normal gasket seals to close to bore some bores the gasket sits inside bore .replaced with multi steal gasket (not cheap) but better placement of seal rings . my motor is 1440 things like this seem to be overlooked by some rebuilders and lead to expensive repairs. well worth the money if fitted fist time |

I'm pretty sure all the different steel shim gaskets that are available are all made by cometic. Not all of the gaskets are the same size though, when i was looking into them i found there were a few different thicknesses and bore sizes available depending on what shop you are buying from. I'm pretty sure they are evenly spaced as well. I bought a 74mm gasket for my 1380 so the pistons wouldn't hit the gasket and it seems to be working great although the motor hasn't really done all that much. |
