Hey guys,
I love this website and am on most days. BUT I am at my wits end all of my computers take an age to navigate it. It is the only website that is horribly slow.

Is there a way to fix it?

Thanks
MB

Ausmini works fine for me... no issues...
its very strange that you only have problems with this website.

have you tried browsing the site without logging in? maybe there is a problem with your account?

or maybe try a different web browser, see if it improves the situation.

I'd say it's the hosting bandwidth - probably sitting at its limits most days. Maybe time for the owner to increase or get some advertisers to pay for it ;0)
But hey , what do you expect for a generally free website :0)

Given that everyone else seems to be fine, and MB even said he can browser other websites fine... it seems like something specific to his computer/internet connection and Ausmini.com

if it was a bandwidth issue, it would affect everyone... and if it was his internet connection, it would affect all websites....

Im thinking there is something wrong with either his user account on ausmini... or something else deeper down... like a DNS or network issue between his internet provider and the ausmini provider (would seem unlikely)

try clearing your internet cache also.

I find the website hangs, when I open a topic in a new tab I get the little spinning wheel of doom on my mac for about 3 seconds until the tab opens. When the theme changed for that few days over xmas it didnt do it. Doesnt do it on the ipad either but for some reason on my mac it always does.

I call mine the 'beach ball of death'

I find on the iPad when opening a thread it opens quite quickly but then takes three or four seconds for the banner photo to load. It's a pain in the arse as the screen then shifts down and I find myself selecting the wrong thing! i.e. I'll go to select 'View new posts' the screen shifts and I select 'USER CONTROL PANEL'

Maybe the issue is the loading of photo's is slowing things down!

If it first started around the xmas changes it could be your computer has remembered those settings... Try a DNS flush, it will clear your old IP addresses and make sure it goes to the correct address, instead of attempting a usually quicker but sometimes wrong cache.

For macs not exactly sure but try here for info http://osxdaily.com/2008/03/21/how-to-flush-your-dns-cache-in-mac-os-x/ Darryl

Maybe the Ausmini garage is a little overloaded with parts...

I'd be right onto this if I had the same issues here at this terminal which is more or less exactly the same as your own, but its not often I get to the users experience.

Mine seems pretty fast, and yes every now and then it will hang, particularly when I am shuffling posts or editing deleting my own. The thread opening and reading seems pretty quick however, at least from what I am seeing.

Keep letting me know exactly what you're seeing and if its something I can fix, I'm keen to try.

Could it be a platform issue? The issues I reckon would impact the most would be the banner images and the background which is embossed with a squillion Ausmini logos. On some platforms you will see just one large ausmini (android for eg), and on others (Firefox) you will see about a hundred, like I am right now. You might try using another theme perhaps?

Let me know.

Mine's been pretty quick ever since I dumped Exetel's ADSL2 and went onto Bigpong cable..
Going from an old Athlon 64 PC to a Macbook air helped too.
