i was out there for a couple of hours sunday. saw the bricks go round. nice to see someone putting a mini in Nc, everyone seems to think you need a big engine car in Nc.

i did not see the sports cars go round, or the old F1 cars. turns out that one of the directors of my company is the owner/driver of ex Alboretto Ferrari 156/34 turbo F1 car. Had a bit of a chat with him in the garage. what a machine eh. 8) oh yeah the ex Mario Andretti Lotus 78 was awesome even on the lunchtime demo. the porsche 916 was awsome just sitting in the garage. i could go on and on....

Hi everyone!

That very first pic is me!! This is my first post here.....

Shame the pic is on the warmup lap though! The rain made Saturday an interesting day for a first day on track in a mini. Being used to a rear wheel drive sports car, it certainly was a learning experience!

Cheers

TW

Welcome Troy...you look like you had fun out there.....and BTW...if you want pictures of your car racing don't ask a Flaggie!!! I quickly shot off a couple on the warm up.

Very good effort for first time out in FWD...

Just answed an email from Rob tonite...he says you are a nice fella!! He was also wondering out loud if you might be interested in painting your car BLMC Blue and White?? :D

All the best, Mick

Terrrific shots guys....I think that is the Lotus Cortina I was saying should be stripped down and scrutineered....he was challenging the fastest of the Mustangs!!

The GT-40 and Lola raced very impressively until the 40 had a tyre problem....

and yes, Guido seems to getting the hang of driving an ex-F1 Ferrari....put on a very good show in the ex-Alboretto 156 Turbo....

great meeting 8)

G'day Mick.....

Mate if there is a free paint job on offer, Im all ears. I'm not sure about having a MiniMe of Rob's Rover tho.....

The current paint job makes it look a bit like a chocolate wrapper- all white with a federation blue roof is more to my liking.

So if you know of someone keen to paint the mini for a "friendly" price...

I am also in the market for a car trailer. the one I have now that i towed the Bolwell with is a little on the heavy and large side for a mini.

Troy...

The car looks great mate, completely in keeping with Mini racing colour schemes of the period. Don't know how serious Rob is about an all painted up faux Leyland team.....ask him

and Rob is looking for a large trailer for the Rover....just don't have the room at home...maybe a deal could be done here as well  :?:

Me in Canberra, so you are better off asking the locals on Ausmini about car painters.

Cheers, Mick

well, i remember when Bob Pearson used to run two of those Lotus Cortinas, and would regularly beat the pants of everyone. Having said that, he told us that he had six engines, basically one optimally tuned for each track (almost), at the cost of about $20k each, plus a gearbox and diff optimised for each track. If you have the $$$$$$ ......

Hah :!: seriously ...the only thing that stopped the Tina winning was that his tyres had gone off....he passed the lead car once AFAIR....squirming around all over the place....with a fresh set he might have won :!:
