We had a little bit of a moment.

The databases disappeared, but luckily Dave our hamster wrangler makes a back up at least once per day on the server.

It took until just now to load the backup onto the drive and kick the wheel back in motion.

I hope you all managed to find some extra time to play out in the garage instead.

If they were not in the backup. Which if they are not here now, they wouldn't have been. They would be gone for good

Probably not. The backup will have been a snapshot of a point in time. And that time was about 1.40am this morning. It died sometime after that point before mid morning I think, so I'm sorry that the posts made early this morning will be sacrifices to the gods of lost data.

There are three databases which run Ausmini called phpbb1, 2 and 3.

One is quite small, one being about 16 meg. Phpbb2 is about 450 meg, and phpbb3 is about 950 Meg which represents all the topics we've been talking in since 2004.

Al the images are of site, so there is nothing but pure text stored in the DBs which explains the reasonably small size of the DBs after a decade of operation. This has an exception of a few website theme images like the banners you see above.

From this block of data, we have transfered so far this month about 30 Gigabytes of data back and forth. Last month was 50 gig, the month before was 58 gig. So the data on the site Ausmini gets shuffled about the ether an awful lot.

Mick

thanks Mick, those servers sure get some use, no wonder there is a corrupt file from time to time. Darryl
