So my choke has been a problem for a while now...

but this weeks cold mornings has really be a PITA, every morning so far i've had to use a peg under the bonnet to hold the choke open to start the car.

Basically from the choke cable inside the car, I can only open the first stage of the choke.... the handle then gets stuck hard about 1 inch out... its impossible to pull it out any further.

If i pop the bonnet tho it takes exactly zero effort to open the choke right up with my finger.

so yeah, as i said... i stick a peg on it, start the car, take the peg off, close the bonnet and drive to work.

Any idea why the cable doesn't work? its only a few months old... it "Should" work... and maybe once a week if i give it a good yank and i get lucky... it will open the whole way... but that almost never happens.

is it just a case of, buy a new cable and see if it fixes it? I feel like its such a stupid problem and such a simple part that it should just work how it is now.

Same since new, gradually got worse or suddenly got worse.

I'd be disconnecting it and lay it straight, then see how it feels. If you can withdraw the whole inner out inspect it. Maybe a broken strand of cable is jamming it.

Some of the cables you buy now eg heater, throttle, are rubbish quality.

Mine is stiff too but if I put the accelerator pedal down a bit and hold it while I pull out the choke it works. Extra pressure of the fast idle screw makes it harder to pull out. If you hold the pedal down all the cable is doing then is pulling the jet down. Extra or stiffer throttle return springs make it even worse.

An inch sounds normal. Maybe you just need to adjust the cable a bit.
