So after months of worryingly low hot oil pressure today after pulling the clutch off to change out I thought im this close to the oil pump so why not pull the primary gear housing off and remove oil pump.

So I found out the subframe gets in the way of physically removing the primary gear housing off the engine but I got it back far enough to remove oil pump and hey presto. 1 knackered oil pump.

Now I know the chances are bearings will probably be worn too but im gonna fit a new pump first as engine is still strong and maybe last time it was rebuilt they forgot or neglected to replace oil pump.

Wish me luck..

Rodney

I'm very impressed you're burrowing all the way to the oil pump with the engine in situ!

Dont have an engine crane hear atm otherwise engine would be out.

Was sort of clutching at straws with low oil pressure. Seemed too much like buggered oil pump to completely strip engine and look fir other issues.

Well there's an oil filter between there and the bearings, so with a bit of luck it has arrested any damage.

Yeah hopefully thr vigilant 3000km services have helped too..

Oil seemed very clean to when I dropped it. Might cut filter open and have a look what it has caught...

Im only hoping but I cant afford a full engine build atm and my choices are remove engine and rebuild and be without my mini for months or risk destroying my 1275......

Awww isnt that cute...... what a good step dad you are.

I tried to involve my step son with fixing the mini he cried when he got grease on his hands. So I tried to involve myself with his favorite thing.... lego. Didnt end well...
